Chandel District

 

 

The Chandel District (formerly known as Tengnoupal District) came into existence on May 13, 1974. It was renamed Chandel District in 1983. This is one of the three most backward districts in Manipur that is receiving funds from Backward Regions Grant Fund Program. This is the second least populous district in Manipur after Tamenglong. NH 39 passes through this district.
